Such a grey and lumpy world

Hello again,

Well some more stuff on anatomy since I didnt get a chance last time to tell you about this model, why not start now.
So ive been thinking about all the models I have created and funny enough, body models were quite low, I dont know how many faces I can do now with my eyes close although it still really helps with reference (see posts below with the shite yellow sculpt and the not so bad mouth above it) .

I wanted to make a female body, in a pretty health state. I didnt want to be bogged down with poly modelling, I just wanted to get stuck in, so I loaded a front & side image plane of a woman extruded a box till I got the general shape and then brought that into zbrush.

I havent used image planes since i was first learning modelling but it seems that was the best place to use it.

So here it is, there are so many problems with it, I leave you to find them. Just another step in the process.


It seems like its an easy task as you dont have to make enormous shape changes but thats where the difficulty lies, subtlety, you can effortlessly go off track.

I think the worse thing about anatomy modelling is that if its done right, it shouldnt look amazing or spectacular, it should look like a mold made from someones body.

hehe, that would be a good excuse for me to say “My work is the best because none of you have notcied it. ” And really you shouldnt if i was to put it alongside another cast say in a creature workshop or in a forensic lab.

When this is done I will probably use the same base to create a male version.
Oh wait I almost forgot, i have done a bit of anaotmy modelling, only a bit. Here is a screenie from the soon to be finished black widow and prey scene. I will show you wires and making of’s later down the road when im back to working on it but nevertheless I still think it counts.

phew!

hey guys,

phew , made the minimum one post a week deadline, hoping to make more this week.

Im still working on the Female Anatomy and a few other pieces.

Plus look for some updates on the SSS in houdini situation (let me say that shader that Serg wrote, works and its awesome so i hope to put some renders out soon) .

I notice the big thing (in modelling) these days is:

  • Replicate a painting in 3d
  • Make a thread titled “<insert name> Sketchbook” which contains mostly heads
  • Focusing more on monsters/fantasy rather than the human form

But never have i seen on many forums the other areas that people dont flock towards.

If you start as a modeller then you might expect them to also try their hand in Texturing , and should that go well then rigging might be a good option or lighting.

Some may disagree here but i think a really good artist has more than one skill making the pipeline less cumbersome.

So here is a pic of something that i was working on, i will divulge later on the details but for now, that’s it. Also there is some multimedia content that might be coming your way soon, but cant speak on that.

Some anatomy

Hey ya , heyy yaaaa

So obviously i didnt want to lump this post with the last one, it was pretty negative.

Here is the start of my first anatomy piece. Surprisingly i havent attempted to do one in the past but i think its something i should really try to succeed in.

Enough blab, did enough of that in the last post so here it is so far.

Rant 1#

Hey people….

Im gonna sound like another bunch of whining bitches on a thousand other blog but what the fuck who cares right.

Oh and yep i did curse, which is something i try not to do when angry which is pretty easy since i dont get that angry most of the time but urghhhhhhh.

ok so its Friday, not feeling great, flu is going around surprise suprise…. it is January, so for 4 fucking hours i spent every ounce of energy i have into getting Houdini to spit out an SSS render of Bolthead. I love this package, I think its way ahead of its competition and now with HD they will get more and more attention in the spotlight, which they deserve and i hope they get more money and in turn more staff. Either to help with the Help files, since all the SSS shaders dont have any help notes for them or someone to do tutorials full time, because if anything houdini is known for being hard to learn and thats what turns most people off.

Anyways i just deleted a whole bunch of text because im getting pissed writing about it. So anyways after 4 hours of nothing but waiting and doing nothing, i decide my prescription for treating this meltdown is some Gears of War on the 360

*One little piece of good news i guess is some guy has posted an SSS shader on sidefx exchange.. so

But this was friday and today is Mo… Tuesday its 1:42am, so i should be getting some shut eye.

oh and sorry for the language but its necessary. (well maybe not, but i cant articulate my fustration ny other way)

About this blog!

In a nutshell, this is where i update work and try stuff out. Think of it like a thread that never gets bumped to page 2.

There will be modelling, rigging, possibly some pre-viz updates ... basically anything i do related to cg will be posted here.

I dont update this blog as frequently as i would like, but one, the updates i do make are quite lenghtly and are packed full of useless goodness and two, this isn't the only place you can find me making a ripple or two.
