Re-dubbed, Re-edited, Revitalized!!!

Hey guys,

First off, i think its time for me to stop wondering if people are reading/viewing this blog. This week was particularly good in terms of views and i dont think that 1,800 are just random hits (although one could argue that). I have the feeling some of you check back here quite often so here is something i have spent time to “re-produce” just for you guys.

If you listen to the video it will explains its origins, im not going to waste valuable reading space.

I know i stutter and stumble my way through it (like Hugh Grant in some stupid movie) but I hope it is of a high standard and hopefully in the future i will re-re-release a downloadable version.

So for now, enjoy.

Next i will be making/documenting a more valiant effort at anatomy modelling. The last attempt which you can view down the blog was pretty poor. So i have my subjects and i am ready to go. I have at least 5 models i want to do but it might take a while and become a little monotonous so i will post/recompile some of my old posts from a previous blog into this one. they had tips and tricks and just various modelling perspectives that i thought people would enjoy reading.

Houdniks!!!

Dont worry. Next post.

Weird!!

Hey oh,

Apologies as always for not being prompt. I have been…… urghhh busy? :)

I noticed a weird thing last night when i was looking over my model. I haven’t been in Windows in 3 days. Im not a linux lover or anything but it just prefer the way it works, and how it work with other applications.

Im not gonna go into a big breakdown of why linux is good or bad but its just something i would mention here, considering im not technical.

The only thing i would say is more packages need to be made available for it. I hear Silo 2.1 will be available on Linux. But Mudbox, Zbrush and PS and the big ones i would love to see on a distro of Ubuntu, but i get the feeling it isnt going to happen.

So here is a model i have been working on, on and off. Counting the hours up it up it really is a speed model, just polished and bit. I wanted to make something that i could do a lighting study in the future. there are areas on the model that aren’t perfect. The hair obviously isnt finished, but I dont think im going to put myself through the pain of trying to re-create it. I worked on it for about half an hour last night and was going to post the final image, but i don’t like it :) . I prefer the version that i have here.

I must give a very honorable mention to Mark Newman the original sculptor who created the piece based of Edgar Allan Poe.

So there it is. See ya soon with more crap :)

oh and SHOUTOUT to Jason, hey mate. Jason is the second person to post here, the first one was way back when i started this model, but he feels like the first because that was a while ago. So hey ho Jase. Speak to ya soon.

Link dump!

Hey guys,

Sorry things got by me, no model update …. this morning, but I will try my hardest to get it up later tonight as its 1:31am.

So why am i posting.

Well considering i am venturing down a different avenue of 3D, i would imagine this blog would attract a different crowd of people.

So ive added a new catagories to the links sections. Houdniks / Technical Artists / Resources

I have had these links bookmarked for ages but never to round to putting them up. They are decent sites and i have sifted out alot of dead links. I never realized how many i had and how useful and resourceful they are.

This site is now my homepage because it has so many good links now that would take a way to locate in a bookmark folder.

Also taking about the site, i think it might be time to actual have a REAL site, with no restrictions, complete freedom. I will transfer all of the info from here to the new site, no need to worry. In fact talking of that i had another blog that had a few decent posts that i have yet to transfer, so look for a few posts in this month.

I think i am gonna continue this for a few more months and if i am still into this blogging stuff, then why not.

You will not only get the pic but i have a few other things planned.

So im looking forward to it, hopefully I will feel the same 2-3 months from now.

See ya soon

oh and check out some of the new links. Not only in the new sections but the others too.

About this blog!

In a nutshell, this is where i update work and try stuff out. Think of it like a thread that never gets bumped to page 2.

There will be modelling, rigging, possibly some pre-viz updates ... basically anything i do related to cg will be posted here.

I dont update this blog as frequently as i would like, but one, the updates i do make are quite lenghtly and are packed full of useless goodness and two, this isn't the only place you can find me making a ripple or two.

and that is over at my podcast www.cgroundup.com
